Welcome back

Goodbye summer, hello school days

Though you can’t yet tell, with the still-scorching daytime temperatures, summer in Chico is crawling to a close. The days are getting shorter, the nights a little cooler, and Chico suddenly feels much more crowded. Lines are longer, parking spaces fewer and U-Haul trailers are connected to what seems to be every third car that drives past.

School is open. There are no striking teachers for the K through 12 kids, and a just-finished Bell Memorial Union awaits the college crowd. So we offer the following collection of school-related articles aimed at new students, returning students, elementary, junior high, high school and college students and, of course, their parents.

Welcome back, kids. And enjoy it.

You’ll never know a better time.
