Chico police officers arrest 43 people over the weekend

Chico police officers issued a press release this week in response to the department’s unseasonably busy weekend that included a large number of arrests for driving under the influence.

Between 5 p.m. Friday and noon Sunday, officers booked 43 people on a variety of charges. Ten were for DUI. Twenty were for being drunk in public.

The most violent crime of the weekend was when Jeremy Shriver-Munsch, a 21-year-old Chico State student, allegedly attempted to attack people with a machete after a fist fight near Fifth and Walnut streets in the wee hours of Saturday morning. One of three men who charged the knife-wielding Shriver-Munsch received a cut on his hand.

The next morning, at about 3 a.m., police arrested three men for burglary. The suspects, Jamal Hines, Darryl Williams and Edwin Roberts, were captured after residents of the apartment on Nord Avenue returned home to see one of the men leaving through a back window.
