Welcome to fall and winter in Chico. We may be a bit biased, but we can pretty much guarantee you’re going to love it here. The community is steeped in rich history and tradition. But unlike many cities of its size, Chico is still surrounded by all the best nature has to offer: wide-open spaces, foothills and mountains, rivers and streams. For nature-lovers, the region is bounding with opportunities for fishing, hiking, kayaking and other outdoor activities.

The community has a lot to offer to city folks, too. With a university at its core, Chico is abuzz with ideas and an active citizenry. A lively downtown is a favorite spot for locals and visitors. In fact, the California Planning & Development Report recently named it one of the state’s best downtowns for mid-sized cities (taking third behind Pasadena and Santa Barbara).

Whether this is your new home or you’re here for a visit, get out and explore. To give you some direction, the Chico News & Review, Chico’s award-winning weekly newspaper, has prepared this handy Visitor Guide. Use it to discover what makes Chico so special.
