Only a test

If you received a text, email or phone call from Butte County saying “CodeRED” Thursday morning (Sept. 28), there’s no need for panic. The message was a test of the county’s emergency notification system, called CodeRED, aimed at ensuring the system is functional and to encourage participation by local residents.

If you didn’t get a message, county officials suggest logging on to buttecounty.net/massnotification, where residents can sign into the system using Google, Facebook or Twitter to update their information. A CodeRED Mobile Alert App is also available for download.
