PUPPETS FOR PEACE<br>More than 200 people and 20 giant (and not so giant) puppets turned out at the Chico City Plaza Saturday to mark the fifth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The puppets had a purpose: to illustrate alternative uses of the trillion dollars spent so far in Iraq and Afghanistan. The small red puppet in this photo, which represents affordable housing, was “hammered by Lisa Sun,” and the large kachina puppet, by Nick Reiner, speaks for the more than 475,000 Native American households living below the poverty line in tribal areas.
