Love in the Digital Age

The learning curve is steep when it comes to modern-day romance

Love in the Digital Age

Navigating the world of romance these days has become easier in some ways. Initiating a date—or a hook-up—through Facebook or via text and apps cuts out the awkwardness and intimidation of face-to-face contact. Tinder is the new Match.com in an increasingly computerized world, for example. Moreover, since it reveals someone’s interested in somebody else only if that person is interested back, it eliminates the rejection factor entirely.

Sounds great, right?

Then again, there’s a lot to be said for meeting someone the old-fashioned way. You know, through friends, at a party or, heck, at a bar. That’s because chemistry is harder to gauge over a keyboard, through an online profile and conversation on a cellphone. Welcome to love in the Digital Age. We’re still figuring it all out, too.
