Local snags county post

Oroville High School and Chico State graduate to serve as interim county officer

Butte County is familiar territory for Scott Tandy, who is heading into the area to take up his new job as the county’s interim chief administrative officer.

Tandy is a graduate of Oroville High School and UC Davis, who went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Chico State. He’ll take up his post at Butte County’s administrative offices on Monday (Nov. 23).

His appointment will allow Chief Financial Officer Gregory Iturria, who has been performing the duties of CAO since January, to focus on the county’s finances. Tandy spent more than 33 years working in various local governments. He served as chief assistant county administrator for Contra Costa County for 20 years, retiring in 2006.

Tandy told the CN&R that his appointment is temporary. He is expected to fill the position through the recruitment and selection process being undertaken by the Board of Supervisors.
