One of the many great aspects of our North State hideaway is its proximity to other great hideaways—particularly in winter, when snow reveals tremendous slopes to conquer and backcountry, free of trails, to traverse.

Our second annual Winter Guide (created in conjunction with our sister papers in Reno and Sacramento) spotlights Lassen Volcanic National Park.
