Law library has new digs

When we last talked with John Zorbas (pictured), head of the Butte County Law Library, in July 2006, he was concerned about the library, which had been asked to move from its location in the Superior Court building in Oroville. Where, he wondered, would it end up?

He needn’t have worried. The library recently moved into splendid new digs at the historic—and refurbished—Oroville Carnegie Library at 1675 Montgomery St., which had long been vacant. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Nov. 9.

District Attorney Mike Ramsey said he’d spent many hours in the old public library as a youngster. “I find it wonderfully ironic,” he said, according to a press release, “that as a child growing up in Oroville, the Carnegie Library was where I went to gain the knowledge that led to my career as an attorney; and now … I’ll be going back to the same library to further my knowledge of the law.”
