Call to action

Everybody complains about government, but nobody does anything about it. OK, some, if not most, of us vote. But here is your chance to do even more. The city needs volunteers to sit on its boards and commissions. At the end of this year no fewer than 27 seats will be open on the city’s eight boards and commissions, ranging from the Planning Commission to the Human Resources Board. They are each important and all in need of citizen volunteers willing to devote their time and energy to the business of running Chico.

But don’t think about it too long. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 12. Applications are available at the City Clerk’s Office on the third floor of the City Municipal Building. To see what seats are open go to http://www.chico.ca.us/City_Clerk/Boards_and_Commissions.asp.

If you’ve ever considered running for elected office, these boards and commissions are a great way to start.
