People are cheapskates, and that’s not a bad thing. Honestly, in this economy, only fools aren’t counting every penny and looking for the best deals. That’s why so many Sacramentans have been making the trip to Sacramento 6 Drive-In, where a $6.75-ticket gets movie lovers a double feature and cinema under the stars. It sure beats the regular theater where people have to sneak in microwave popcorn or frozen yogurt in their sweatshirts, which looks awkward and doesn’t always work. On Thursday, the drive-in will thank deal-crazed moviegoers for their support with a free movie night. Yes, free movies. The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and 2012 will be featured. There also will be live music, bounce houses for children and other activities planned before the movies begin.

Free movie night will be Thursday, April 22; gates open at 6 p.m. and movies start at 8 p.m.; free; Sacramento 6 Drive-In, 9616 Oates Drive, off Highway 50 and Bradshaw Road; www.westwinddriveins.com.
