Welcome back, Verge Gallery. OK, so the gallery was only shut down for one month while it moved to new digs across the grid. It felt like a really long month, though. The new space, located at 625 S Street, is gigantic. It will be able to house twice as many studio artists and galleries. Yeah, that’s a lot of art in one spot. The gallery also will feature a classroom for art education, film screenings and other events. However, the upgrade isn’t cheap. In fact, they need your cash to get the space up and running. Verge Gallery will initiate “fundraising phase one” with a screening of The Art of the Steal on Friday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Crest Theatre. There also will be a panel discussion. The film documents the state of The Barnes Foundation following the death of Albert C. Barnes, when his private collection started being scattered around the world against Barnes’ wishes. There’s greed, political corruption and priceless works of art.

The Art of the Steal will show Friday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m.; $15; Crest Theatre, 1013 K Street; (916) 442-7378; www.thecrest.com.
