Kids party

This looks fun, but the whip-cracking stunts will kill it.

Second Saturday gets a little more kid-friendly with a Children’s Multicultural Festival at the Buena Vista Child Development Center. The center, in collaboration with the Buena Vista Rancheria, Wells Fargo and the Instituto Mazatlan Bellas del Artes dance troupe, will have a street fair on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m., with fun for the kids before all the grown-ups come out for the night. Events include traditional California native dancing, rope tricks and whip-cracking stunts by cowboy James Barrera, traditional Aztec and Mexican folk dancing, Hawaiian and Tahitian folk dancing, and African folk dancing and drumming. The street in front of the center will be closed to traffic, with a stage and play area set up. Best of all, it’s free.

Children’s Multicultural Festival at the Buena Vista Child Development Center, 1412 20th Street; Saturday, April 10, 1-6 p.m. Free and open to the public.
