If you’re going to rebuild something, rebuild it right. That’s just what’s happening for some of the kids caught up in Hurricane Katrina back in 2005. Studies have shown that children who are taught how to garden lead happier, healthier lives, and some schools in the area affected by the storm are doing just that, as documented by local filmmaker Robert Lee Grant. Nourishing the Kids of Katrina—the Edible Schoolyard screens Wednesday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m. There will be a local produce tasting and a discussion. Donations of $5-$20 are requested for the Sacramento Area Community Garden Coalition and Obama Volunteers for Change.
