City of green thumbs

Food health goes beyond checking nutritional facts. Healthy food benefits both people and the environment, and there’s no place where that’s more apparent than urban gardens. Slow Food Sacramento will present Common Table from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11. There will be workshops and movies about community and backyard gardening, composting, food swaps and gleaning. A three-course gourmet dinner prepared by Magpie Caterers will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Fremont Community Garden. Workshops are $25, and the dinner is $75 for Slow Food members and $100 for nonmembers.
