New year, new tour

January is typically the slow season for major concert tours, but the members of Unwritten Law aren’t starting the new year resting on their laurels. The San Diego, Calif., quartet released their “best of” album, The Hit List, earlier this month, and the band is touring in support of the new disc. The group formed in 1990, and it has gone through several personnel changes in its 17-year history. The current line-up consists of vocalist Scott Russo, guitarist Steve Morris, bassist Pat “PK” Kim and drummer Tony Palermo. The new album features 17 of the band’s best-known songs such as “Seein’ Red,” “Cailin” and “Save Me (Wake Up Call)” as well as two new tracks, including the latest single “Shoulda Known Better.” Unwritten Law and opening acts As Fast As and I Hate Kate perform 8 p.m. Jan. 12 at the New Oasis, 2100 Victorian Ave., Sparks. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Call 359-4020 or visit www.jmaxproductions.net. Kelley Lang
