Aye, that’s the dub

If you’re looking for a consciousness-raising experience as you ring in the new year, head to Lake Tahoe for a performance by Heavyweight Dub Champion. Critics praise the dub collective’s blend of tribal rhythms, hip hop, reggae and electronic music. The members of HDC, however, don’t consider themselves as just musical performers, but also as representatives of the Army of the Last Champion—a spiritual warrior whose mission is to bring people across the world together to fight against the Global Ruling Elite, who want to enslave the Earth’s masses both creatively and spiritually. The group details this mission on its debut album, Survival Guide for the End of Time. HDC aims to free people’s minds through the power of music and multimedia art happenings. Prepare to be liberated when Heavyweight Dub Champion performs 9:30 p.m. Dec. 27 at Breeze Nightclub inside Tahoe Biltmore, 5 Highway 28, Crystal Bay. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the show. Call (530) 583-2801 or 831-0660.
