Issue: December 25, 2014

Dear Folks,

The winners in our 95-word fiction contest will be revealed in this

week's edition, and the author of first place knows how to pack a lot

into each of those words. The winning entries make up our cover

story this week.

In Green, Sage Leehey wrote about the upcoming Nevada Small Farm

Conference, a reminder of the states' role in agriculture-- and, I

regret to say, Sage's coda at the RN&R. I regret to say we are

losing her to family and Las Vegas after she has made us look so good.

Brad Bynum writes about a new Holland Project Gallery exhibit that

taps into the natural world and the art of Josie Luciano. Bob Grimm

reviews the long awaited screen version of Stephen Sondheim and James

Lapine's play Into the Woods. And Todd South reports on his two

trips to Ryan's Saloon -- a Reno fixture -- to test the food.

Thank you for reading us, and have a great holiday.

Take care,

Dennis Myers
