Superbad

Rated 5.0

Two teenagers (Jonah Hill and Michael Cera) finishing up their senior year are looking to get laid before they head off to college. Yes, it’s your typical teen sex comedy setup, but thanks to the tremendous talents of the actors and incredible writing by Seth Rogen, this is stacking up as the funniest movie of the year. Hill and Cera make for a dynamic comic duo, with Hill playing a frustrated ball of fury and Cera the deadpan compliment. Christopher Mintz-Plasse adds to the fun as their nerd friend Fogell, who becomes known as McLovin after he chooses the name for a fake ID. McLovin’s adventures with a pair of irresponsible cops (Rogen and Bill Hader) are classic. The movie has a great heart to go with its supreme vulgarity. Directed by Greg Mottola, it’s another gem from the Judd Apatow comedy factory (Apatow produced). One of those rare films that is funny straight through, with no pause.
