Pepsi comes out for health

Pepsi Beverages Company, seeking to tap into concerns about health and obesity, will soon begin test marketing a line of fruit drinks in selected markets, Nevada among them. The drinks will meet beverage guidelines for high schools.

Pepsi will be only the distributor. The drinks are manufactured by Chicago-based Tampico Beverages and will feature drinks with half the sugar of Tampico’s regular line. They will be named Tampico Plus and will come in citrus, mango, and tropical flavors.

The test marketing will occur in six states—Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Nevada and Texas.
