Hamlet 2

Rated 4.0

A disgraced Hollywood actor turned high school drama teacher in Tucson (Steve Coogan) is informed that the drama class is getting cut from the school budget. He retaliates by penning a sequel to Hamlet wherein the Dane and Jesus fly around in a time machine saving the lives of all who died in the original play. Coogan is hilarious in the lead role of Dana, an untalented, eternal optimist with unending energy. Elisabeth Shue gets her best role in years as herself, forgotten by Hollywood and settled into life as a Tucson nurse. I expect a hard push for the musical classic “Rock Me Sexy Jesus” at the next Oscars. This is yet another good comedy in a summer of great ones, and solidifies Coogan as a major cinematic talent.
