Capitalism: A Love Story

Rated 4.0

Michael Moore basically puts forth the argument that capitalism is a flawed, failing system, and he has the recent financial disasters to back up his theories. America is run by big corporations in his filmmaking opinion, and he makes some rather strong arguments to that effect. Moore has driven me crazy with his manipulative ways and ambush tactics in the past, but his approach is a little more reasonable and tolerable this time out. One of the film’s most moving moments is simply watching Franklin Roosevelt talk about a new Bill of Rights in the waning days of his administration, something that didn’t come to pass. It’s amazing to hear what he had in mind for the country, considering where things are at right now. Moore can be infuriating, but his brand of antagonism and propaganda works well for this subject. He certainly gets you thinking.
