Better Luck Tomorrow

Rated 2.0 This is a rare film that happens to deal with Asian American high school students struggling with alienation and teen angst. A good film on this subject would’ve been a nice thing, but writer/director Justin Lin also wants to make a gangster movie. When it comes to gangster films, he has nothing but clichés and overblown melodrama to offer. The kids do well in their roles, but Lin puts some pretty sloppy dialogue in their mouths. It’s half a good movie.
