Gilding the Lily Tomlin

Lily Tomlin was recently named to be the next recipient of the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. How appropriate, since she has been entertaining people as a comic, actress, writer and producer for decades. Plus, she was the voice of the fizzy-haired teacher on the animated Magic School Bus show, which is worth a lot of bonus points.

The septuagenarian is still at work in front of the camera in feature films and a Netflix series, Grace and Frankie, and Fe Gallery has chosen Tomlin as its muse for its current group show, The Lily Tomlin Experience. There are more than two-dozen artists who have gilded the Lily—both from Sacramento and out of state—including Susan Silvester, Madelyne Templeton, Skye Becker-Yamakawa, Rhonda Thomas-Urdang and Cuauhtemoc Q. Kish. There will be a video journal during the Second Saturday reception and a lot of love for Lily.
