Welcome to Fair Oaks, British hamlet by the sea!

Apparently, T-shirts weren’t invented until the 17th century.

If you’ve got a hankering to gnaw on a turkey leg while ogling tightly corseted women and practicing your Old English accent, well hanker no further! This weekend’s 15th Annual Renaissance Tudor Fayre promises to recreate a 16th-century England seaport in the middle of Fair Oaks. So drink a draught of ale, my anachronistic friend, and carouse with the jousters, belly dancers, palm-reading gypsies, wizards and merry-makers. The revelry lasts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit the Fair Oaks Parks and Recreation Department. Fair Oaks Park, Madison Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. Call 965-8463 for more info.
