The obvious choice

Sax in public? My, my!

If you’re in Sacramento for Memorial Day weekend, I hope you like jazz. But before you make out of town plans, you should know that there’s more to the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee than trad-jazz quartets playing toe-tappers for the RV-dwelling crowd. This year’s festival includes Latin jazz and salsa, a performance site devoted entirely to swing and a children’s stage in Old Sacramento. All told, there are more than 125 bands from around the nation ready to jazz up your life at more than 40 locations. The event kicks off with a free parade in Old Sacramento at 11:45 a.m. Friday. The jubilee costs $85 for all 4 days or $35 for one day. Call 372-5277 or visit www.sacjazz.com for information.
