The Ruin is a four-piece, Sacto alt-rock band that’s been doing it for years. I’d never heard of them until spending quality time with their MySpace this weekend. The verdict? Derivative party rock (again)—but done well, at least. Kris Kreeger hits all the right marks—such as on (yet another track) titled “Drown”—and the songmanship is clean, tidy. Band photos from a St. Patrick’s Day show of lore, complete with vixens in leather and fishnets, pretty much sum up the Ruin’s vibe.
