ZuhG has switched around some members in the past year, but the jam-reggae outfit—who arguably plays as many different shows and venues than any other act in town—is now a six-piece. Bryan Nichols stills sings and picks, Matt Klee on the drums, too. Jake Jarzemkoski does the bass, Jake Gleason kills the sax during the band’s grooves, J.R. Halliday plays second guitar and Charlie Wheeler is the emcee, doing something called “mouth situation,” at least according to the band’s MySpace page (non sequitur: Have bands taken over Facebook yet?). And so, ZuhG: Anyway, the new EP, Fish Tank, is five tracks, the best being “Dreams,” what with its smooth sax intro and dub-jam verse styling without killing the harmony, except for a few bars of saxophone solo later in the song. Ultimately, just good ol’ shakin’ and shake-smokin’ reggae radness.

ZuhG has hella shows coming up: March 19 and 20 at Mermaid’s Seafood and Grill (2171 Cowell Boulevard, Suite F in Davis; 4 and 3 p.m., respectively; no cover), March 26 at the Downtown Plaza, March 27 at Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort, and later that night on March 27 at Shakers in Citrus Heights (5940 Sperry Drive, (916) 863-7465, call for cover).
