Wed, July 29, Japandroids

Blue Lamp, 9 p.m., $6

It’s quite possible the reason Japandroids, or Jpndrds, as they are sometimes listed on marquees, named their first album Post-Nothing is due to the fact that journalists tend to define the sound they produce as post-punk, post-teen angst, post-post … or post-whatever. Although they draw influences from much of the post-universe, the simple fact that a two-piece band can produce so much thickness and noise is impressive. To steal from their own MySpace page, Japandroids are “not minimal … they are maximal.” This Canadian duo is ready to rock this tour, well, like they rocked your mom last night. 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.myspace.com/japandroids.
