Tim White, who used to cover the gallery beat for SN&R, is one busy guy. Between his bands (Baby Grand, the Sutter’s Four, the Bright Ideas and about two others) and Western Lore, the ’zine he publishes occasionally, when does he find time to paint? But he does, and he does it well, and you can see some of his photo-realist oils, which hang in the True Love Coffeehouse this month. A few feature guitars—a Gibson acoustic guitar headstock, a pick guard on a Fender Mustang electric. There’s a large painting of former local journalist Joshua Chaffin, and one of White’s characteristic turntables, and a coffee cup. Also on display are a number of paintings by Anthony Montanino, most of them featuring blues and jazz artists. The True Love is located at 2406 J St., and it’s open from suppertime until real late every night except Sunday, and there’s music, too.
