Peachy keen

Osmanthus black tea, Snobites

Snobites, which opened in Elk Grove in December 2014, is a new spot serving high-quality boba tea and some pretty inventive snacks: brick toast, Taiwanese-style shaved ice, ice cream-filled macarons, popcorn chicken, tacos and more. On my first visit, it was a tea that impressed: Osmanthus black tea with lychee-flavored aloe and grass jelly. Osmanthus tea comes from a tree called osmanthus fragrans (guihua in Mandarin), which has a sweet, ripe-peach-like smell. The aloe and grass jelly added a nice crunchy and chewy texture. A large drink with the aforementioned add-ons costs $5. 9170 Elk Grove Florin Road, Suite E, in Elk Grove; (916) 684-7669.
