Looking to do an absinthe tasting this weekend? (I mean, who isn’t?) Anyway, if you are, head over to Woodland. Perhaps you don’t think of it as the hot spot for chasing the green fairy, but Tazzina Bistro—an always pleasant, brick-walled restaurant in the historic downtown, where chef Rebecca Reichardt serves updated American fare—is opening its new bar and lounge this weekend, a 600-foot adjunct to the main dining room. Reichardt is kicking things off with a fin-de-siècle–themed party, complete with live entertainment that includes cancan dancers, complimentary appetizers and vintage cocktails. And then there’s that absinthe. (Be advised: Appetizers and mini-desserts are free, but drinks are not; however, there’s no cover charge.) The party starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, but if you miss it, the bar and lounge will be open in the days to come. 614 Main Street in Woodland, (530) 661-1700, www.tazzinabistro.com.
