Eight Gigs: Bachelor Paradise

Fri., July 29, 8:30 p.m., Naked Lounge, $5

Bachelor Paradise has a sound that is a little bit ’60s psychedelic and a little bit indie jam rock. The lead singer has a low voice that drones slightly off-kilter—a rhythmic kind of banter that works over jangly guitar and cymbal clashes. Lyrics are dense and poetic; what Bachelor Paradise has to say may be a tad cryptic. But it’s less about what the words mean and more about the overall effect. The result is tunes that are a throwback to the days of druggy, garage-rock enthusiasm with just enough off-handed apathy to keep them modern. 1111 H Street, www.facebook.com/bachelorparadise7.
