Edible ornaments

If you’re foodie who has a Christmas tree standing tall in your home, then you may be the type to tackle making some edible ornaments to decorate it with. Popcorn strings are an easy start, best put together with many friends helping you thread each kernel down the line. Pop in a copy of your favorite Christmas special, pour some ’nog and brandy, and string away. Be sure to use popcorn made from plain popcorn seeds, as the artificially buttered stuff won’t work. For color, string a few cranberries on as well. Knot the ends of the string when it’s full and adorn the tree.

“Stained glass” cookies are a colorful option. Take your favorite gingerbread or sugar cookie recipe, cut out holes in the middle for the “glass” and a small hole at the top for the ribbon. Fill the hole with shards of broken Jolly Rancher candies. Bake as directed. The candy will melt into bits of candy “stained glass.” Thread with ribbon and hang on the tree.
