Brotha Lynch Hung, Thurs., May 21

The Boardwalk, 7 p.m., $20

If there’s one emcee that I’m proud to share the same city with, it would have to be Kevin Mann, a.k.a. Brotha Lynch Hung. The dude has been in the game for damn near 20 years now, and his 1995 release Season of Da Siccness was so brutal, it forced the Record Industry Association of America to coin the term “ultraviolence.” Remember when everyone was freaking out about how profane and violent Eminem was? (“Oh my God, he killed his mom in this song!”) Brotha Lynch Hung was exploring topics like eating babies and phallic hand guns while Marshall Mathers was popping zits on his funny little face. 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale; (916) 988-9247; www.myspace.com/originalspydermann.
