Texas Rangers

Rated 2.0 Dylan McDermott stars as Leander McNelly, who leads a band of new Ranger recruits (including Dawson’s Creek’s James Van Der Beek and singer Usher Raymond) along the 1875 Texas-Mexico border. Their agenda is to avenge the deaths of their loved ones in the crime-infested West and destroy the outlaw King Fischer (Alfred Molina) and his gang of bandits. Although McNelly makes a terrific speech about the morality of the Rangers (“Let them remember us not as men of vengeance but as men of law and justice”), he urges his men to take no prisoners until one Ranger reminds him that he has become one of the very scum he so relentlessly tracks down and kills. The film has very little energy and originality. Directed by Steve Miner (Friday the 13th: Parts II and III).
