Black Knight

Rated 1.0 This movie is as bad as you thought it would be. Martin Lawrence plays an amusement park worker who finds himself transported to medieval times, where he manages to act like an idiot. Lawrence’s mugging is painful, dreadful stuff, and the movie he inhabits is dumber than Corky Romano. It’s hard to pin down the moment I hated the most, but I think it would have to be when Lawrence breaks into song during a banquet, where the king tells him to show off his dance moves. Martin Lawrence singing amounts to one singularly bad time at the movie theater. Didn’t laugh once, not laughing remembering it, and just wishing I hadn’t seen it. Lawrence has fallen far since costarring in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing. He peaked in ’89.
