Issue: March 22, 2018
Welcome to this week's Reno News & Review,
News outlets, for better or for worse, have had a close relationship with Facebook for the last several years. Even before it came to light that the social media giant had released user data to Cambridge Analytica, at least a few headlines proclaimed that a breakup is on the horizon. In this week's feature story, we take a look into how exactly Facebook and the media have been interacting—and what it might look like if they part ways.
Also in this issue, News editor Dennis Myers talked with some high school students in Sparks who wonder where the youth movement is going after the national walkout. Theater critic Jessica Santina gave a rare "must see" rating to a play at Bruka Theatre that examines what grief can do to a family in the wake of a soldier's death. And columnist Bruce Van Dyke has a homework assignment for you, to read a new book by two investigative reporters who dug deep into Russia's involvement with the 2016 elections.
