Die Another Day

The Bond franchise blows its wad and goes nuttier than usual with this insane chapter. Pierce Brosnan returns in fine form as 007, fighting everything from his own agency to North Korean terrorists set on taking over the world. Halle Berry makes her much ballyhooed appearance as a Bond Woman, and she’s alternately convincing and weak. (Some of the punches she throws look like they wouldn’t knock over a grasshopper.) Director Lee Tamahori pulls out all the stops, and while the results can be a bit much at times, it is undeniably fun.
