Far From Heaven

Rated 5.0 Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid star in Todd Haynes’ fascinating look at 1950s taboos. Far From Heaven displays many of the styles, colors and camera work of your average Audrey Hepburn movie, while the story, about racism, homophobia and infidelity, is extremely powerful. Moore and Quaid do Oscar-caliber work, and a swirling soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein never lets up, constantly evoking an era in which intolerance was required in social circles. Dennis Haysbert is excellent in a key supporting role. An astounding achievement in many ways.
