Based on a true story, a Naval officer (Derek Luke) comes to terms with a scary, violent past, with smile-inducing results. Denzel Washington makes his directorial debut, doing a decent job behind the camera as well as in front of it, playing a psychiatrist who helps the officer heal up, movie-style. Although the film follows your basic Psychiatrist Movie blueprint, Washington manages to bring much warmth to the proceedings. Sweet enough to see, simple enough to forget quickly.
