Along with the rest of the nation, the Chico-Redding area competed in a national sports trivia contest. Apparently North Staters aren’t too knowledgeable when it comes to the past 25 years in sports, however. The region came in 201st—almost dead last—in the qualifying round out of 204 cities.

The contest, hosted by NTN Buzztime Inc., was available at bars, via cell phone and on the company’s Web site. The closest bar to Chico to offer the trivia game is in Anderson. California came in No. 8 in the state rankings.

The state and city winners of the qualifying round were Florida and Dallas-Fort Worth, respectively. The highest-ranking areas will compete next week for a grand-prize vacation/final challenge in the Bahamas.
