Bike to the air show

Organizers of Chico AirFest encourage locals to cycle to the event

Chicoans love the air show and they also love bicycling, so it makes sense that organizers of Chico AirFest 2008 are encouraging the public to cycle to the upcoming event.

Getting there is easy: Simply follow the bike path from downtown to the Chico Airport. A good way to access the path is behind the Chico Nut facility on the east side of the Esplanade.

Head north and follow the signs for free valet parking operated by the Butte Bicycle Coalition (located near the Sub Station). Once there, pick up a coupon for a free bottle of water. Or better yet, bring your own bottle and the folks from Kleen Kanteen will fill it with filtered water (also for free).

The valet service will be held both days of the air show. Gates open at 2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 26-27).
