A real motherpucker

High West Whiskey American Prairie Reserve

Warmer weather means it's time to forgo complicated drinks in favor of a summery treat. There's probably a fancy name for this cocktail but let's not get pretentious, OK? Instead, pick up a bottle of High West Whiskey's American Prairie Reserve ($42.99) and pour one to two ounces (depending on what kind of day you've had) over crushed ice in that Pinterest-worthy mason jar. Alone, this aged bourbon whiskey is smooth with crisp, floral notes, but we're not done yet: squeeze in the juice from a half-lemon and give the drink a swirl to distribute the tartness. Otherwise expect to make the biggest motherpucker! face. High West is a Utah-based distillery and 10 percent of its proceeds benefit the American Prairie Reserve, a wildlife preserve in Montana. Available at Corti Brothers and Taylor's Market.
