Give the gift of rescue

It’s been a rough year for so many people around the world, but 2016 can still have a happy ending. Just watch Called to Rescue, a film about adorable farm animals being saved. These are the lucky ones who were spared from being part of the 9 billion lives annually sent to slaughter. The film features 15 animal sanctuaries from across the United States, including Animal Place in Grass Valley, Blackberry Creek Farm Animal Sanctuary in Colfax and Harvest Home Sanctuary in Stockton. Called doesn’t use graphic, shocking images of the cruelties of the farming industry, but shows how the animals and their human caretakers thrive together, shining a light on their connection. It’s joy and affection from both sides of the relationship, and that’s welcome hope. The film makes a great gift for anyone, vegan or not. Or organize a screening for the community (contact the filmmakers via www.calledtorescuefilm.com), and spread the love.
