Issue: January 24, 2019

Dear Friends,
This week in the Reno News & Review our cover story provides the results of our annual 95-word fiction contest. The nation may be in a funk these days, but many of our submissions in the competition were positive and upbeat. And the first place winner is a familiar figure.
Elsewhere in this issue, Luka Starmer has a report on what one Lake Tahoe community does at night for the homeless during these frigid weeks. Our 15 Minutes feature has an interview with a Truckee resident about how that town is planning to mark the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. Jessica Santini reviews a Reno Little Theater production of Barefoot in the Park . And in news, we report on the 2019 Women's March and Nevada Legislature.
Remember that some of our features are print-only, so be sure to pick up a copy. And thank you for reading us.
Take care,
Dennis Myers,
News editor
