Issue: July 26, 2018

Welcome to the annual back-to-school issue of the Reno News & Review. This week's feature story is a Q&A with Washoe County School District Superintendent Traci Davis with whom we sat down to discuss everything fro new school construction to school safety. This week, we've also got our annual Join the Pack guide. It has stories geared toward new and returning students to the University of Nevada, Reno.
In a preemptive move, MGM Resorts International—which owns Mandalay Bay—filed more than a thousand July 20 complaints in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles against victims of the Las Vegas concert shooting. You can read about that in our weekly news column from News Editor Dennis Myers.
Over in the arts section, we have a story from Arts Editor Kris Vagner. She went out to local breweries in search of quintessential summer beers and came back with a list of recommendations from bartenders and a her reactions to the various beers she sampled.
As always, don't forget to grab a newsprint copy of the paper. It contains columns and cartoons you won't find online.
Happy reading!
