Issue: April 10, 2014
Dear Folks,
This week in the Reno News & Review, in the second of his series on
people killed by police, Brian Burghart presents some basic data in
graphic form: tables and graphs showing information on the race, age,
gender, mental state and other attributes of those killed, as well as
the frequency of these events. This information is also broken down
by police agencies. Brian also wrote about the circumstances
surrounded a single incident, a 2012 death.
In Art of the State, Brad Bynum takes a look at the work of three
young artists whose work is now exhibited at UNR. In Green, Sage
Leehey lets you know about an environmentally friendly way to dispose
of that old electronic gear in your closet. And in News, we look at
the way big name endorsements can short-circuit voter choices.
There are also reviews by Dave Preston of a new pizza place, and by
Bob Grimm of the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And
Bruce Van Dyke has some second thoughts about one of his earlier columns.
Thank you for reading us.
Take care,
Dennis Myers
