Issue: September 13, 2012
Hi everybody,
Welcome to this week's Reno News & Review. Though it often seems like
there are only two political parties in this country, there are many.
And there are actually three presidential candidates whose names will
be on the ballots in all 50 states. Romney and Obama you're probably
familiar with. But what do you know about Libertarian nominee Gary
Johnson? The former New Mexico's governor's decidedly Western
views---he's pro-marijuana, pro-gay marriage and pro-gun---might
resonate with many Nevadans. In this week's cover story, he gives
RN&R editor D. Brian Burghart a straight-shooting, policy-oriented interview.
Also in this week's issue, Dennis Myers profiles the two candidates
in the Ward 3 City Council race, theater critic Jessica Santina
previews this fall's upcoming productions, and I talk to The Paisley
Brain Cells, a rock band that's been on the local scene for more than 20 years.
Be sure to pick up a print copy of the paper for exclusive columns,
cartoons and ink smells.
Thanks for reading! If it weren't for you, we'd never know about any
parties, political or otherwise.
