X Men: The Last Stand

Rated 3.0

The third and supposedly final (yeah, right) film in the franchise is stuffed with too many new mutants and not enough time to develop them. Still, it bounds along at a decent pace and gives Ian McKellen yet another chance to have great fun. The government has come up with a cure for mutants, and while Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and his cronies support diplomatic discussions, Magneto (McKellen) wants all-out war. This results in a final sequence where the Golden Gate Bridge gets uprooted and moved, a sequence that is quite unnecessary but looks cool. The weakest of the series, but it’s still fun to watch and a decent summer popcorn flick.
